    Base Supervisor - Flight Line (Cape Town)

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensure that there is sufficient manpower in SVM, Domestic, Regional line stations and international outstations;
    • Supervise the Mechanical/Avionics Contractors on a monthly basis as per the Labour requirements;
    • Plan the Mechanical/Avionics workload, and ensure that there are troubleshooting strategies available;
    • Make provision for overtime for the Mechanical/Avionics technicians when required to meet planned dates/ AOG situations;
    • Supervise that the overall Mechanical/Avionics tooling and testing equipment to ensure calibration and availability is maintained;
    • Provide troubleshooting assistance on the aircrafts, and assist technicians to remedy the faults;
    • Must be involved in the planning of Checks to ensure test equipment is available and calibrated, additionally if spares are needed to clear defects or for scheduled tasks;
    • Manage the workload and Manpower needs with the respective Line Foreman’s and Production Controllers;
    • Manage deferred and recurring defects, their trouble shooting by Mechanical/Avionic personnel and the sourcing of the required repairs within a specific timeframe;
    • Provide recommendations regarding Spares and tooling;
    • Provide On the Job Training to Apprentices and Technicians;
    • Provide feedback to Management on daily aircraft Mechanical/Avionic defect status and provide feedback to MCC;
    • Provide detailed reports to management (weekly and monthly);
    • Budget Control;
    • Drive the focus and performance of direct reports, ensuring the ultimate achievement of goals and objectives whilst cultivating positive team spirit and employee morale.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12;
    • Minimum of 20 years’ Aviation experience, of which, 5 years must have been in a Managerial or Supervisory role (Essential);
    • Experience on B737- 400/800
    • Certified B737-400/ 800;
    • Certified in Ground runs B737-400/800;
    • Excellent communication (verbal and written);
    • Must be available to work extended hours, including weekends, should it be required;
    • Must be prepared to travel domestically and internationally.
