Grade 10-12 or equivalent NQF level 3-5. Recognised National Steam certificate. A minimum of 1-3 years of appropriate experience gained in operating boiler. 1-year exposure in a hospital environment.
Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety act of 1993 and regulations. planning, organising and communication skills, awareness of Batho-Pele principles. Be willing to work in a team and under pressure.
Duties :
Make requisitions of chemicals from the storeroom as requested. Test the quality of water for the softness as well as the returning flows of condensate water. Fills the chemical tanks with the required chemicals as prescribed.
Top up salt in the brine tank. Check the working conditions of chemical pumps. Test the total dissolved solids. (TDS) and blow-down according to prescriptions. Monitors the steam pressure and constantly checks the correct temperature of the hot water tanks. Adjust the stocker for efficient steam delivery and check the theatre autoclaves.
