PURPOSE:

•  To maintain and manufacture assets, equipment and surrounding infrastructure to minimise adverse impact on production.

Minimum Requirements    
QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical (Essential/Minimum)
•  Trade: Boilermaker MQA/QCTO (Essential/Minimum)
•  N3 Relevant Trade Subjects (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE:

• 2-3 years Applicable technical and maintenance experience within a heavy industry, production or mining environment.
• Importance: Essential/Minimum
• Involvement: Operational

REQUIREMENTS:

•  Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
•  Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
•  Competence: Core MQA Modules Assessments (Essential/Minimum)
•  Competence: On the Job MQA Modules Asses (Essential/Minimum)

Duties & Responsibilities    
The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:

Equipment Control and Maintenance

•  Inspect and repair assets/equipment and surrounding infrastructure
•  Perform testing, fault finding and problem solving
•  Adhere to planned maintenance schedules
•  Assume responsibility for maintenance/new installations and maintain records

Inspection and Control

•  Inspect all tools, equipment and instruments prior to use
•  Inspect all vehicles/machines/mechanical equipment to identify defects
•  Report defects immediately
•  Carry out inspection according to a specific schedule to repair identified defects

Material/Resource Planning and Control

•  Adhere to planned maintenance schedules
•  Use available resources, both people and equipment optimally
•  Assume responsibility for quality of maintenance and new installations in functional area

Routine Work Management

•  Fill in job cards daily and submit to foreman
•  Transfer knowledge and give guidance to Artisan Aides/trainees to improve their skills

Safe and Healthy Work Environment

•  Adhere to all health and safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis
•  Address all unsafe practices and potential hazardous situations and rectify/report to superior
•  Comply with Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) and technical requirements
•  Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times

Technical Support
 Read and interpret drawings

•  Perform hands-on maintenance support during breakdowns and shutdowns
•  Conduct technical evaluations of equipment
•  Perform stand-by duties and training of personnel, when required
•  Plan and order parts to minimize production delays due to tool, equipment and instrument failure
