Boilermaker - Middelburg at Omnia (Pty) LTD

Overview    

• Make and install boilers and other large containers that house gases or liquids such as oil.

Qualifications    

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Qualified Artisan

Experience    

• 3 year demonstrated experience in the role as a Boilermaker.
• 3 years demonstrated knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

Advantageous Requirements:

• Proven experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, callipers etc.)

Duties    

Reading blueprints

• Follow drawings / blueprints to manufacture tanks and structures
• Align structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frame tanks or vats, following blueprints
• Casting pieces and bending them into shape
• Ensure the section edges fit properly and bolt or weld them together
• Conduct an assessment before starting manufacturing
• Regular inspection and maintenance of tanks and structures
• Regularly check the tanks and structures for leaks and weak spots

Hazard identification

• Understand the hazards associated with handling hazardous materials and enforce the safe handling of these materials on the plant.
• Compliance with relevant industry regulations
• Occupational Health and Safety Act
