Buyer: Apparel (Denim) at Pepkor Speciality

Job Description    

• Legit, a division of Pepkor Trading, is seeking a highly motivated Casualwear Buyer to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in selecting, proposing, and procuring the right products to support the company’s sales and profit objectives, while ensuring alignment with the brand’s identity and value proposition.

Qualifications    

• A relevant Degree, qualification in Fashion Textile Design, Clothing Production, Product Development, Merchandising, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience    

• Previous experience in a clothing manufacturing environment (Portfolio specific).
• Retail buying experience of at least 5 - 8 years in clothing or casual wear, DENIM.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to improve the efficiencies of the production coordination processes, including automating current manual processes.
• Accuracy in execution and attention to detail. 
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with sense of urgency.

Key Responsibilities    

• Achieve and exceed the Company’s inflow margins and GP Rands as signed off at the seasonal business plan meetings.
• To Influence, drive and execute the seasonal product strategy in line with Company objectives (i.e. the Business Plan).
• Drive newness to ensure a continued growth of the business and changes within the retail landscape.
• To be responsible for researching, understanding and executing the relevant seasonal trends in line with the target market and departmental purchasing strategy.
• Research, understand and interpret current trends, relevant to the target market. 
• To build a competitive product range according to the purchasing strategy in order to maximize sales.
• To source and select current supplier(s) for the appropriate product category and manage them according to the Company policies and procedures with reference to the Supplier Manual approved business plan.
• To ensure the timeous execution of procurement administration to meet the target dates in the critical path of the supply chain.
• To source and procure products within the agreed quality specifications and standards.
• To ensure compliance with agreed-upon quality specifications and standards through the following:
• Various meetings
• Involvement in Quality Control Process, e.g., fittings
• Liaise and collaborate with the marketing department and VM team with regard to the following: 
• Marketing endeavours
• Packaging updates and innovations
• Regular check-ins and collaboration with Planners and store planners.
• Maintaining standards and expectations with product technologist and Quality Control (also in DC).
• Regular store visits to understand competitive reviews for analysis.
• To react to in-season sales performance, in collaboration with planners, suppliers and agents, to turn on/turn off stock in order to maximize agreed-upon financial figures.
