Buyer at South African Airways Technical (SAAT)

Job Purpose    

• Procurement of all aircraft spares and modification kits at the ultimate economical level to ensure that same are available timeously to affect maintenance on all SAA aircraft fleet and 3rd party aircraft which are contractually bound to SAA, within all regulatory authority quality and documentation requirements.

Principal Accountabilities    

• Procure the correct spares and modifications kits timeously and selection of the best price, delivery and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with local and overseas suppliers for the delivery of aircraft spares and modification kits that may be required for AOG and urgent aircraft maintenance.
• Expedite purchase orders to meet delivery requirements to ensure sufficient stock for aircraft spares and modification kits to be available at all times.
• Resolve discrepancies, orders placed in contest by SRO.
• Resolve order amendments timeously so as not to delay payments or create stock outs.
• Opening part numbers in AMOS, ensuring data integrity for correct aircraft type, class of material, ATA applicability, effectivity codes and anagraphic requirements for costing purposes in SAP R3.
• Distribute purchase orders to different departments.
• Research current pricing by benchmarking and obtaining quotes from contracted vendors and recommend approved supplier.
• Attend meetings as required
• Prepare and arrange pro-forma payment for vendors that require payment before delivery and submit to Senior Buyer for verifying.
• Liaise with Workshops, Planners on daily basis with regards to problems and queries concerning the procurement of aircraft spares / service providers

Qualifications & Experience    

• Grade 12 (Business) or equivalent /Business Economics or Accounting
• Purchasing Diploma and 1 year experience in relevant procurement field

Or

• Have 2 years’ experience in purchasing or inventory control.
• Knowledge of AMOS specializing in purchasing transactions.
• PC Literate – MS Office and AMOS
• Valid unendorsed drivers licence Code B
• Knowledge of Supply Chain related functions and departments.
• Good knowledge of SAAT as an organization and relevant Aviation Authority requirements (i.e. CAA, FAA and JAA)
• Knowledge of tender board policies and procedures, understanding of SAA’s policy towards BEE Companies.
• Communication skills (verbal and written)
• Good interpersonal skills.
