    Chemical Technologist

    Company Description:

    • A research and training facility in Accelerator-Based Sciences and technologies with a focus in Nuclear Physics, Materials Science, Radio-nuclides Production, Radiation Biophysics, and Accelerator Physics

    Responsibilities:

    Duties will include but are not limited to:

    • Preparation for chemical separation
    • Chemical recovery of radionuclides
    • 123I-mIBG Production
    • 18F-FDG Synthesis
    • 68Ge/68Ga generator manufacture
    • Monitor and control adequate stock levels of chemicals and consumables used for the chemical separation processes
    • Housekeeping of hot cells (in front and back), production preparation lab and related infrastructure
    • Partake in the mid-year and end of the year routine maintenance of hot cells
    • Partake in troubleshooting as a result of equipment failure in hot cells
    • Provide input for the design of new or improved production panels
    • Housekeeping of packing area and radiopharmaceutical store
    • Perform qualification on equipment and troubleshooting when necessary
    • Perform validation of equipment and production methods when necessary
    • Prepare and label boxes and complete documentation according to IATA requirements
    • Check orders received & put into planning for packing in collaboration with the administrative work group
    • Monitor and control adequate stock levels of packing materials
    • Complete all documentation related to chemical separation and packing functions
    • Make suggestions for updating of SOP’s
    • Assist in writing & implementing SOP’s
    • Setting goals for the development and optimisation of procedures in compliance with product specifications and cGMP; to minimise radiation exposure; and to increase efficiency
    • Experiment with various options and select the most appropriate
    • Identify problems and investigate possible solutions
    • Compile reports on experiment or solutions
    • Complete experimental work and write-up of Project
    • Working hours may include unusual hours dependant on operational demands.

    Requirements:

    Minimum Requirements:

    • BSc Degree in Chemistry or equivalent
    • 2 years’ experience preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

    Desirable requirements:

    • Experience in Quality Management Systems
    • Experience in the chemical separation processes of radiopharmaceuticals (working in a radiation environment)
    • Experience in writing and implementing procedures
    • Valid Code 8 drivers’ license
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
    • Accuracy and attention to detail
    • Deadline driven and ability to work under pressure
    • Integrity and reliability
    • Cooperative in a team environment
    • Computer literacy
