Chief Medical Officer at Clinix Health Group (Pty) Ltd

Minimum Requirements:

• MBCHB (Bachelor of Medicine, and Surgery/ Chirurgeon).
• Current registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa.
• Masters Degree in Public Health or Business Administration.
• 10 years Clinical experience. Critical 5 years senior management experience.
• Leadership in Healthcare services.

Minimum work experience:

• Develop and ensure planning and execution of integrated financial strategies to achieve cost effectiveness (through procurement pharmacy and nursing agency and staff costs).
• Plan and utilise the available skills for maximum effectiveness and productivity.
• Support and guide relevant workstreams (outside Clinical) to achieve Operational and Clinical success.
• Lead strategic direction setting and strategic planning for the business area in alignment to the company’s vision, mission and values.
• Ensure critical risk areas are identified and establish mitigation and risk management plans.
• Participate and influence decision making at EXCO level, preparing proposals to Board levelDrive the implementation of integrated governance, compliance, integrity and ethics frameworks throughout the function and hold Clinical employees (Hospital and Head Office levels) and service providers accountable for delivering on these frameworks.
• Take a strategic view of the health value chain to ensure the Clinical Function (Hospital and Head Office level) is optimally integrated and aligned and optimised within CHG’s operating context.
• Lead the development and maintenance of policies, standards and procedures for the business area and integrate business strategies across operations.

Oversee the establishment of Clinical standards, SOPs, guidelines and protocols and ensure implementation and adherence across the group in the below sub-functions:

• Patient safety and quality
• Clinical Risk Management
• Clinical Pharmaceutical Services
• Nursing
• Academy
• In collaboration with Operations and Legal, ensure the establishment and adherence to the group wide admissions privileges agreement for medical doctors across the group.
• Lead the development of relevant policies and protocols in collaboration with the Clinical Risk Committee, Medical Specialists, Pharmaceutical Services, The Health Academy & Nursing Allied Health Professionals and ensure thereof.
• Set the standard of professional performance for medical, Nursing and Allied and Health Professionals.
• Lead and provide Clinical expert support to Nursing, Medical, and Allied Health workers across the organization.
• Encourage, establish and maintain strategic relationships across multiple functional areas to enable collaboration, knowledge sharing and optimisation of the business value chain.
• Balance the interests of a variety of stakeholders (Finance, Operations, Hospital Management and Nursing, Medical and Allied Professionals), readjusting priorities to respond to pressing and changing demands.
• Lead implementation of a performance management plan that optimises delivery and builds a culture of accountability, recognition and fairness across the business area.
• Ensure business strategy of area of accountability is adequately budgeted for to drive the financial performance of the business.
• Oversee budget to control expenditure and ensure the efficient use of resources.
• Ensure complete, timeous and accurate reporting with appropriate levels of escalation to enable effective decision making.
• Drive and influence Exco to establish goals, metrics, and priorities for good corporate governance as relating to the Clinical function.
