    Chief Operating Officer (COO)

    Job Description:

    Human Destiny is currently headhunting for a a dynamic and experienced COO with a manufacturing/ production background with experience in establishing and growing a production facility. 

    The incumbent will be responsible for the initially set up processes, procedures, assist in the recruitment of key staff, and then manage activities at the manufacturing location which includes efficient and effective production, quality maintenance and effective distribution of the manufactured products to the market. The objective of the role is also to ensure that all employees whether permanent or contract at the factory are productive and engaged. The role is responsible for ensuring that statutory compliances have adhered, and the positive brand image of the organization is sustained externally & internally.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • 3 direct reports: Production Managers (fuel cell stack, hydrogen reformer and fuel cell system integration).
    • Co-ordinating the testing and validation of local components and vendors from technology transferred products in six months.
    • Developing cost down program, TBD at completion of technology transfer.
    • Supporting manufacturing lines capable of manufacturing 150 fuel cell systems by EOY 2020.
    • Establishing Company policies, procedures, safety practices and ISO9001.
    • Becoming a subject matter expert on fuel cell stacks, hydrogen reformers and fuel cell system integration.
    • Execute and complete two technology transfers with:
      • Horizon (fuel cell stack and fuel cell system integration) Engineers within four months.
      • Element 1 Corp (hydrogen reformer) within four months.
    • Hiring, developing and training the Team direct responsibility for the selection, coaching, feedback, and development of plant personnel. Key involvement in setting and meeting targets/aspirations of the team in six months.
    • Learning the manufacturing of fuel cell stack, hydrogen reformer and fuel cell system integration.

    Qualification:

    BSc (Mechanical).

    Competences:

    • IT knowledge: Working knowledge of ERP, MS Office, and other reporting Tools.
    • Language Proficiency: English, knowledge of South African languages.
    • Demonstrates leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
    • The ability to motivate and lead the team and follow set procedures.
    • Excellent communication & Interpersonal skills.
    • Establishing action-oriented relationships with business partners, and all external parties such as local government agencies, legal agencies, local media, and interest groups.
    • Can work under pressure.
    • Knowledge of market trends, regional variations and customer requirements.
    • Develop strategic plans to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of supply chain.

    Compensation:

    • Base salary to range from R1.5 to 1.7 M on a total Cost To Company.
    • Bonus to range up to: TBD.
    • Equity Options: TBD.
