The role

• This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and energized Civil Engineer (Pavements) to join a leading infrastructure consultancy and contribute to the growth and development of a business with a reputation for technical excellence and strong client relationships.

Primary Position Purpose

• SMEC South Africa have exciting opportunities for young pavement/materials engineers in their Bloemfontein Construction & Pavements division. This division, specialising in pavement and rehabilitation design, materials investigation and design, and construction supervision and administration, prides itself on technical excellence.
• A strong team with experience ranging from 10-40 years will also guide and assist you on your path to professional registration.

Key Responsibilities
With a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, the key responsibilities will be:

• Materials/field investigations;Visual assessments on roads;Pavement designCompiling bills of quantities;Project specifications;Producing drawings if needed;Report writing; andRegular communication with immediate supervisors.General Construction AdministrationManaging contractual matters of projects

Recommended Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required

• BSc or BEng (Civil Engineering) from an accredited institution;Minimum 2 years’ experience with good references;A masters’ degree in pavement engineering and/or past site supervision experience will be advantageousGood communication and report writing skills in English;Good organisational and interpersonal skills; andAttention to detail and motivation to produce high-quality work.
