Civil Estimator (Water Infrastructure) at RPO Recruitment

Job Description

• RPO Recruitment’s client, a leading civil engineering contractor in South Africa is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join its team in Durban. This role is best suited to a highly analytical professional with extensive estimating experience on water infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering projects.
• Analyse drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and tender documentation.
• Measure quantities and compile detailed pricing schedules.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Assess project risks, construction methodologies, and resource requirements.
• Prepare tender programmes, cash flows, and cost build-ups.
• Participate in tender adjudication meetings and value engineering exercises.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal project teams.
• Ensure tenders are submitted accurately and within required deadlines.

Requirements:

• Degree or National Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related qualification.
• Minimum 10 years' estimating experience within the civil construction industry.
• Proven experience pricing water infrastructure projects, including water treatment works, wastewater treatment works, pump stations, reservoirs, bulk pipelines, and related municipal infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, rates, and contract documentation.
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent analytical, commercial, and negotiation skills.
