Grade 12 or equivalent. Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse. A minimum of 7 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. Relevant discipline specific skills, Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control (or similar), Management qualification, and Computer literacy will be added advantage.
Duties :
Demonstrate an in depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how these impacts on service delivery. Ensure clinical practice by the nursing team (unit) in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the institution. Ensure that the allocated areas comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Infection and Prevention Control Policies.
Participate in in-service training as part of the daily duties. Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards as determined by the institution. Demonstrate effective communication with patients and relatives, supervisors, other health professionals and junior colleagues including more complex report writing when required.
Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team on a supervisory level to ensure that allocated areas are practicing best care always bundles and support all areas implementing Lean project. Follow up report and notifiable diseases.
Ensure that allocated wards adhere to IPC initiatives. Support the institution’s occupational health and safety team. Work effectively and amicably at a supervisory level with persons of diverse intellectual, cultural, racial, or religious differences. Manage own work, time and ensure that reports are submitted within agreed timelines.
Provision of support and advice to health and educational institutions within the cluster and catchment area. Will be required to do call as required by the service and relieve Assistant Manager (area) on delegation.
