    Clinical Technologist (Cardiovascular Perfusion) (Re-Advertisement)

    Requirements :

    • Appropriate qualification that allows for the required registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist in Cardiovascular Perfusion.
    • Registration with the Health Profession Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Technologist in Cardiovascular Perfusion.
    • No experience required after registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in Cardiovascular Perfusion in respect of RSA qualified employees who performed Community Service, as required in South Africa.
    • One-year relevant experience after registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in Cardiovascular Perfusion in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.

    Duties :

    • Operate and manage cardiopulmonary bypass, ensuring optimal patient support for all cardiac surgeries. Oversee other assist devices, including autotransfusion device, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and Intra-aortic balloon pump.
    • Responsibilities also involve performing quality checks, troubleshooting, and calibrating perfusion equipment regularly to ensure consistent performance. Accurate record-keeping and documentation of perfusion activities, patient responses, and machine settings are essential.
    • Additionally, the perfusionist will engage in ongoing professional development, outreach and participate in training sessions, mentoring junior staff and students in perfusion techniques and standards.
