Cloud Architect (12-Month Contract) at DeARX Services (Pty) Ltd

Our client, a leading bank based in Sandton, is looking for an experienced Cloud Architect to lead the design, governance, and implementation of enterprise cloud platforms that are secure, resilient, and aligned to business strategy.
• This is an exciting opportunity to shape cloud architecture across large-scale transformation initiatives within a highly regulated banking environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Define and drive the bank's enterprise cloud architecture and cloud adoption strategy.
• Design secure, scalable, highly available cloud solutions across Azure, AWS and GCP environments.
• Lead cloud transformation and application modernisation initiatives.
• Develop cloud governance frameworks, standards, and architectural best practices.
• Support migration of applications, infrastructure, and data to cloud platforms.
• Ensure cloud environments meet security, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
• Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices.
• Champion cloud operational excellence, resilience, disaster recovery, and FinOps cost optimisation.
• Provide architectural leadership to engineering teams, solution architects, and business stakeholders.
• Present architectural recommendations to senior leadership and governance forums.

What We're Looking For
Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Postgraduate qualification is advantageous.

Preferred Certifications
One or more of the following:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
• Google Professional Cloud Architect
• TOGAF Certification
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
• FinOps Practitioner Certification

Experience

• 8–12 years of IT experience.
• Minimum 5 years in Cloud Architecture roles.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale cloud solutions.
• Strong experience with cloud migration and modernisation programmes.
• Experience working across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• Financial Services, Banking, Insurance, or other highly regulated industry experience is highly advantageous.
• Experience leading enterprise transformation initiatives.
