About the role  

• We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Business Analyst to join our team in Cape Town.  

The ideal candidate will play a key supporting role in growing and driving Cambridge University Press and Assessment's Sub-Saharan Africa business performance by delivering  

• Data-led actionable insights; 
• Improved reporting; 
• Supporting strategic initiatives, and 
• Optimizing commercial decision-making. 
• You will collaborate across departments to analyze financial performance, market trends, customer behavior and pricing strategies.

About you 

• As our next Commercial Business Analyst, you'll bring deep expertise in financial systems and a proven ability to deliver high-quality insights and reporting across multiple data sources. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, combining precision with strategic thinking to drive business performance and support key decision-making. 

​​​​​​​To succeed in this role, you'll need: 

• At least 3 years of experience in a commercial, financial, or business analyst role with a strong focus on financial systems 
• Strong knowledge of ERP platforms, accounting software, and financial reporting tools 
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems such as Bookmaster, SAP, or similar platforms 
• Solid understanding of IFRS, with experience in SQL or other data querying languages advantageous  
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines 
• Strong organizational skills and analytical problem-solving capabilities 
• Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders
