    Community Platform Coordinator: Medical Programme

    Core Purpose of the job:

    • Work together with the Faculty of Health Sciences to establish and build relationships on the community and distributive healthcare platform
    • Work in a team, to establish and coordinate clinical and community placements of Medical and Health Science students
    • Work with administrative support structures to ensure transport and the logistics of community placements are achieved
    • Work in a team, to coordinate activities related to the functioning of the Mobile Health Education platform in the Faculty of Health Sciences
    •  involved with learning and teaching of healthcare students on the distributive platform and within the Clinical Skills Laboratory
    • Assist with the establishment of a Clinical Skills Laboratory.

    Key performance areas:

    • Establish the community and distributive healthcare platforms at Missionvale Campus
    • Manage and coordinate the clinical and community placements of the Faculty of Health Sciences students
    • Assist with the coordination of activities for the Mobile Health Education platform
    • To assist with the teaching of students for the provision of primary healthcare services on the distributive platform
    • To assist with the establishment of a clinical skills laboratory for Faculty Health Science students.

     

    Core competencies:

    • Understand the National Health Act (No. 61 of 2003)
    • Understanding of and commitment to primary healthcare and district healthcare
    • Contribute to research in the Faculty of Health Sciences
    • To render comprehensive primary healthcare services
    • Ability to teach and assess primary healthcare to Faculty Health Science students
    • An understanding of HPCSA Core Competencies for Undergraduate Programmes in RSA
    • Sound interpersonal skills and ability to deal with people at all levels
    • Good project and general management skills.

     

    Minimum requirements:

    Senior Lecturer:

    • Registered with SANC as a Nurse
    • PhD in Nursing Science or related healthcare field
    • Postgraduate degree/diploma in Nursing or Health Sciences Education will be an added advantage.

     

    Lecturer:

    • Registered with SANC as a Nurse
    • Master’sin Nursing Science or Public Health
    • Postgraduate degree/diploma in Nursing or Health Sciences Education will be an added advantage.

     

    Experience:

    • At least five years’ clinical experience in Primary or Public Healthcare Nursing
    • Lecturer: One to three years’ teaching or related work experience
    • Senior Lecturer: two to five years’ teaching or related work experience
    • Code 8 driver’s licence
    • Code 10 driver’s licence or prepared to obtain one within six months of the date of commencement
    • Sound knowledge of the South African Primary and Public Health System
    • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
