    Compliance and Risk Officer

    Duties/Pligte        

    • Developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance frameworks, policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and advising management on compliance implications and required actions.
    • Maintaining and managing the Transport Services compliance register and reporting regularly on compliance status and emerging risks.
    • Leading risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring activities across Transport Services operations.
    • Ensuring compliance with legislation, including transport regulations, the National Credit Act, FICA, POPIA, Occupational Health and Safety requirements, labour legislation, and related regulatory frameworks.
    • Managing compliance relating to vehicle financing, Know Your Client (KYC) processes, due diligence, and anti-money laundering controls.
    • Ensuring lawful collection, processing, storage, and disposal of personal information in accordance with POPIA.
    • Conducting compliance audits, investigations, and reviews, and implementing corrective and preventative action plans.
    • Overseeing compliance assessments of contracted transport providers and ensuring that service providers meet all regulatory, safety, licensing, insurance, and contractual requirements.
    • Managing compliance aspects of tender, procurement, and contract processes, including contract review and monitoring.
    • Investigating compliance breaches, incidents, and regulatory violations and advising management on remedial actions.
    • Supporting Occupational Health and Safety initiatives and participating in relevant governance structures.
    • Designing and delivering compliance training and awareness programmes for employees and stakeholders.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

    • A relevant tertiary qualification is required, preferably at NQF Level 7 with at least three years' relevant experience; OR an NQF Level 6 qualification with at least five years' relevant experience; OR an NQF Level 5 qualification with at least seven years' relevant experience. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) will be considered where applicable.
    • At least three years' relevant experience in a compliance, risk, governance, audit, or regulatory role within a transport, logistics, public sector, higher education, or similarly regulated environment.
    • Exposure to contract management, tender administration, and governance processes.
    • Strong knowledge of transport-related legislation and regulatory frameworks.
    • Excellent analytical, report-writing, and communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities.
    • The ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
    • High levels of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
    • Knowledge of tender processes and compliance auditing.
    • A valid Code B driver's licence and access to own transport.

    Recommendation/Aanbeveling        

    Preference may be given to candidates with:

    • Knowledge of the National Credit Act, FICA, POPIA, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and related regulatory requirements.
    • Experience with FICA compliance, due diligence processes, and third-party risk management will be advantageous.
    • Experience within a university, public sector, or large institutional environment.
    • Experience implementing ISO or other recognised compliance and safety management systems.
    • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing compliance and risk management programmes.
