Compliance & Governance Officer | Durban at The Recruitment Council

• Are you a proactive compliance professional ready to take ownership of a group-wide framework? Our client is seeking a skilled Compliance & Governance Officer to oversee regulatory compliance, strengthen governance functions, and directly support their Wealth and Corporate divisions.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Framework & Governance Management: Manage and elevate the group's compliance framework, governance programmes, and internal risk assessments.
• Regulatory Oversight: Ensure ongoing alignment with PAIA, FICA, FSCA, and broader legislation, keeping policies, manuals, registers, and regulatory returns up to date.
• Monitoring & Audits: Track legislative changes, perform regular compliance monitoring, and conduct internal audits to implement necessary operational updates.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key point of contact for regulators, external compliance officers, and service providers.
• Division & Staff Support: Provide compliance advice to the Wealth Team and design/deliver engaging compliance training for staff

Key Requirements:

• Education: Relevant qualification in Law, Compliance, Risk Management, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a compliance or governance role (financial services experience is highly advantageous).
• Regulatory Knowledge: Sound working knowledge of FICA, PAIA, FSCA requirements, and corporate governance principles.
• Core Competencies: Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities paired with high integrity, attention to detail, and top-tier communication skills.
