    Content Planning Supervisor

    Description

    • The individual is responsible for assigning stories, manage reporters oversee forward planning for the daily news diary, ensuring smooth news operations.

    News Coordination & Briefing

    • Plan the daily news diary with Editors.
    • Brief reporters on stories, angles, and deadlines.
    • Brief Camera Crew on requirements for the day.
    • Assist with forward planning diary and attend daily / weekly meetings.
    • Update editorial teams – brief news meeting and give clear guidance in  terms of story movements and expectations.
    • Monitor and respond swiftly to breaking news, reassigning resources as needed.
    • Contribute toward and oversee live broadcasts and special projects.
    • Perform quality control checks.
    • Monitor news wires, social media and other relevant platforms for breaking news.
    • Maintain real-time communication with reporters on story developments.

    Breaking Major News

    • Respond swiftly to breaking news and developments.
    • Plan and assign/reassign reporters for major stories.
    • Ensure clear communication with all news divisions.
    • Set deadlines and track reporter progress.
    • Keep editorial team updated on story developments.

    Management and Operations

    • Ensure adequate staffing and smooth desk operations.
    • Manage shift rosters efficiently, aligning with company policies.
    • Resolve staff conflicts and advocate for training & development opportunities.

    Content and Editing

    • Assist with writing, studio crossings, and sub-editing when needed.
    • Build and maintain a network of internal and external contacts. 

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • National Diploma in Journalism

    Experience

    • 10 years in Journalism is essential
    • 5 years in a Supervisory position in Journalism is recommended
    • Drivers Licences is essential
