Control and Instrumentation Technician at Senwes

Responsibilities:

Responsible for reactive maintenance

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and control system faults to minimise downtime.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in control systems, instrumentation, and automation equipment using diagnostic tools and technical documentation.
• Perform emergency repairs on critical systems such as PLCs, SCADA, and field instruments (temperature, pressure, flow sensors).
• Maintain accurate records of reactive maintenance activities, including fault analysis and corrective actions.

Responsible for planned maintenance

• Conduct routine inspections, calibrations, and preventive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Develop and follow maintenance schedules for key assets, including sensors, actuators, and control loops.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards by documenting calibration and maintenance activities.
• Monitor the performance of control systems and recommend adjustments to prevent unplanned downtime.

Responsible for system development and continuous improvement

• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to identify opportunities for control system enhancements.
• Implement system upgrades, modifications, and process improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
• Participate in the design and commissioning of new control and instrumentation projects.
• Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for control system operation and maintenance.
• Provide feedback and technical support for the integration of new technologies and automation solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or industrial engineering, or another B.Eng. degree with experience in process analysis and -optimization.
• 2 - 3 years’ experience at a consulting firm as an industrial engineer and project manager AND / OR 2 - 3 years’ experience in the industrial environment as an industrial engineer and project manager.
