Control Centre Supervisor at Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

Qualifications and experience required:

• Grade 12.
• Five to eight years’ relevant experience with supervisory experience.
• Computer literacy – MS Office applications.

Key attributes and competencies:

• Oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
• The incumbent will be required to monitor the various systems linked to the Control.
• Centre and initiate the necessary emergency action to incoming calls.
• Emergency response coordination, computer literacy, attention to detail.
• Decision-making and problem-solving, monitoring and dispatching.
• Technical aptitude, information management, attention to detail.
• Client and service delivery orientation, interpersonal skills, information update and record-keeping.
• Supervises and controls the performance indicators and outcomes of employees based in the Control Centre.

Physical requirement of the post:

• The incumbent sits most of the day but works long shifts (12 hours at a time).
• Special conditions attached to the post:
• Required to work shifts and overtime.

Job purpose:

Is responsible for the daily operation of the Control Centre and duty rooms, including:

• Receiving emergency calls.
• Dispatching of emergency vehicles and personnel.
• Providing communication support for operational staff in the field.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
