    Country Director, South Africa

    The Country Director, South Africa, will serve as the primary lead role for Chipper Cash in the country. You will drive the country strategy working alongside global cross functional teams including Legal & Compliance, Operations, Marketing, and Product. You are a critical team leader that will drive Chipper Cash’s launch and growth in South Africa.

    What You Will Be Doing

    • Identify, develop and manage key relationships required to establish and launch Chipper Cash, including relationships with business and operational partners as well as necessary government/regulatory bodies
    • Build and execute the commercial strategy and planning for business continuity and high growth. You will do so by ensuring alignment between the location’s ‘go-to-market’ approaches and the overall Africa commercial strategy, taking into account the region’s longer term strategic initiatives
    • Ensure Chipper Cash is in compliance with local laws, legislation, and regulations relating to Chipper’s operations in South Africa
    • Provide local market intelligence in areas such as user-behavior, target segments and competitive intelligence to have a holistic market picture and support product-market-fit efforts
    • Lead administrative support related to country operations and growth
    • Manage daily operations after launch to ensure continuing success in South Africa
    • Be the brand steward in the market. This will include representing Chipper Cash at events and other engagements

    What You Should Have

    • Strong experience in driving the strategy and execution of an organization, preferably through a period of growth
    • 5 years of experience in an executive role in Financial Services, banking or at a growth stage fintech startup
    • Experience in partnership development and government relations
    • Experience in team leadership and organizational management
    • Experience managing a P&L
    • Proficiency in collaborative tools such as: the Google suite, Excel, Powerpoint, Slack, Notion, CRM tools
    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree/certifications preferred
    • Strong communication and presentation skills - public speaking, ability to interact with media, regulators and other important stakeholders
    • Manage local teams and coordinate with other internal stakeholder (ie. growth marketing, HR, and finance teams)
