Customs Affairs - Stops Compliance Agent at DHL

What You’ll Do

• Manage Customs stops and detained shipment cases from allocation to resolution.
• Keep customers informed and guide them on outstanding documents, charges and next steps.
• Review Customs EDI responses and ensure accurate, complete documentation is submitted.
• Work closely with Customs, Other Government Agencies and internal DHL teams to resolve cases.
• Maintain accurate case records, system updates and supporting documentation.
• Follow up and escalate delayed or ageing cases appropriately.
• Support the management of penalties, examination charges, non-compliance cases and unresolved shipments.
• Support compliance reviews, audits and continuous improvement activities.

What We’re Looking For

• Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Customs Clearance Parts 1 and 2, or an equivalent recognised Customs-clearance qualification.
• Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in Customs stops, import clearance, or compliance within a courier, express or freight-forwarding environment.
• Good working knowledge of Customs import and stopped-shipment processes.
• Strong communication, customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive cases.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
