Data Analyst at PayFast

PayFast is one of Africa’s leading online payment processors. We are on a mission to build world-class payment products and grow the digital economy of Africa. We're looking for an experienced Data Analyst to work in our product team. Your primary role will be to help the product team and the business derive valuable insights from our data so that we can make better decisions.

This role reports to the Head of Product.

What you'll be doing

• Take the lead in upgrading our data tooling and data practices.
• Dig deep into our data to find the insights and trends that can be used to improve our products, grow our revenue and scale our operations. 
• Guide our teams to better understand data and how to use it. 
• Give direct input into the product and business decisions we will make to build the future of PayFast. 
• Take the lead in defining, building, and maintaining dashboards to support the wider business. Help build automated reporting and self-service data access for the wider business. 
• Provide the product team with the data tools to let us measure the impact of the incremental steps we take to improve our products. 
• Build systems and collaborate with the product & engineering team to ensure data quality. 

About you

• You have solid experience in data analysis and want to use your skills and knowledge to play an active role in scaling our business and products. 
• You are excited to work in a growing organisation where you get to define and create how data can be used to make things better.
• You know how to make data accessible and impactful through storytelling and simplifying complex analysis.   
• You are comfortable using a wide variety of data analytics tools and platforms.
• You are a “creative” analytical thinker. You love to play with the numbers to find the nuggets of deep insight. 
• You ask “why” and try to really understand the problem that needs to be solved with data, before doing the work.  
• You really care that your data is accurate and trustworthy. 
• 3+ years in a data or product analytics role.
• You welcome feedback from your team and the rest of the business, and will proactively seek it out.
• You understand your work is never done, but will happily iterate and improve until the end of time.
• You are comfortable staying agile and adaptive in an ever-shifting environment.
