Job Description

• OMI - iWYZE is looking for a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain the infrastructure that supports data storage, processing, and retrieval. The role involves maintaining data pipelines running in Databricks to ensure a timely run of jobs to ensure efficiency in serving business units for their reporting.
• The Data Engineer will also be responsible for redesigning these pipelines, applying data modeling best practices to better support reporting needs.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric
• A degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or Engineering
• 3+ years of data engineering experience
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks, Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Good understanding of business processes, especially in Finance - including design, modelling, execution, monitoring, optimization, and business process re-engineering
• Should be proficient with at least SQL & Python programming languages
• 3 years of experience in data modelling and designing ETL processes using Kimball methods, such as the Star Schema
• Knowledge of Engineering and Operational Excellence using standard methodologies. Best practices in software engineering, data management, data storage, data computing and distributed systems to solve business problems with data management
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, exercise sound judgment, and provide practical solutions
• Experience with PySpark or any distributed data processing language
• Experienced in using Git for version control and implementing CI/CD pipelines, along with tools like Terraform for managing infrastructure-as-code
• Collaborate experience in Analytics, Distribution, Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Finance, HR, IT and other teams to deliver required service levels in Insurance
• SAS experience to migrate the Old Scripts to Databricks
