Data Engineer at Valenture Institute

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with members of the Valenture team (Technology, Learning Design, Faculty and Student Success) to understand problems and data sources, and play the pivotal role of architecting data models to address needs
• Gather requirements, build roadmaps, and write great documentation for data sources that need to be modeled
• Build ELT jobs based on jointly defined requirements to extract data from various cloud services, including Canvas Learning Management System, Zoho CRM and finance systems
• Develop and maintain data models in our Data Warehouse
• Configure AWS services for optimal performance and user experience
• Generating and distributing reports to various Valenture stakeholders
• Providing data-based technical support to the business
• Apply best practice data management and software engineering technologies to existing and new data systems and be a strong advocate for a culture of process and data quality across development teams
• Recommend different ways to constantly improve data reliability and quality
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements for optimum reporting, such as automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
• Develop and implement reporting dashboards allowing stakeholders at various levels to get real-time insight into key metrics 

Key Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Applied Mathematics
• 4+ years experience in data driven position and industry
• -Experience in data analytics, visualisation and business intelligence

Skillset requirements:

• Proven application of Data Warehousing and BI best practices
• Proven track record of implementing innovative BI solutions leading to clear
• business benefits
• Experience in machine learning is advantageous
• Solid knowledge of AWS technologies and hands-on experience working with cloud technologies
• Python, SQL
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment
• Strong analytical mindset with a solution driven approach
• Ability to troubleshoot and investigate issues and propose workarounds and solutions
