Data Governance Specialist at Anglo American

Job Description:

The Purpose of the role is to support the delivery of the VOXEL (Vision of Operational Excellence) Data Programme through the embedding of a Group Data Policy across the organisation. This will ensure trust and confidence in its data by managing and maintaining key data assets to agreed standards.

• Implements the Group Data Policy ensuring the BU / Functions have the necessary support, ensuring feedback to central VDP on opportunities to enhance the data governance framework, data management guidelines & procedures
• Leads data management, automation, change management, communication and sustainment for the Policy
• Works with specialist BU / Functions teams to support the implementation of training and change management programs for the embedding of VDP and Data Policy
• Produces and executes data governance reporting to identify and highlight data control risks, data quality issues and breaches for tabling at governance forums
• Ensures Data Policy requirements are known and integrated into the business planning
• Supports the BU/Function Data sponsors on the journey to ensure data roles are embedded & and culture of data ownership is promoted
• Collaborate across the wider VDP team to proactively share knowledge, information & key learnings
• Demonstrate behaviour in line with the Group’s values, standards and a professional

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Geology or Geophysics
• Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in data related role
• Information Management/Technology or Computer Science discipline career
• Knowledge and experience in Data Management/Data Governance capability design and delivery
• Demonstrated track record of Data change delivery through multi-disciplinary teams
• Demonstrated track record of stakeholder engagement at senior levels of the organisation
• Financial metrics & budgeting in the context of project management/product development

Demonstrated experience in the following:

• Design & implementation of Data Governance Model and Key Roles (e.g. data owner/steward/custodian)
• Experience in designing and maintaining metadata standards and procedures (Collibra is the Anglo American Data Cataloguing tool of choice)
• Experience working with cross-functional teams to promote the adoption of the metadata repository in use cases
• Experience in Design & implementation of data quality measurement and monitoring frameworks and solutions (Ataccama is the Anglo American Data Quality tool of choice)
