    Data Analysis & Business Intelligence Superintendent

    Job Description:

    ​​​​​​Should you be the successful candidate, below are some key responsibilities that you will be required to perform:

    • Gather and analyse data, using advanced statistical models and continuously learning about new ways to mine data and distil meaning out of the increasing amount of data available in GSS.
    • Interprets available data to draw conclusions and make or challenge decisions and scope.
    • Establishing, maintaining, and complying with the BI Governance new or change request in developing automated dashboards.
    • Managing, tracking, and logging of new or change requests in developing automated dashboards received by stakeholders.
    • Facilitate information gathering and brainstorming sessions with the Service Delivery teams to understand the data analytics needs.
    • Review and approve Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) prepared by the team.
    • Engage with the relevant stakeholders for approval of BRDs.
    • Review and approve test plans prepared by the team.

    • Monitors and challenges the integrity of data across multiple Business Units and Global Shared Services.
    • Communicate to GSS leadership through discussion, presentations, and write-ups of results, recommendations and meaningful insights gained through data analysis to be used to develop strategic and operational plans. Present insight briefs that address areas of business value and opportunities to improve it. Drive communication and reporting according to the requirements of internal stakeholders.
    • Support projects relating to data/reporting solutions.
    • Perform ad-hoc analysis as necessary to answer business questions and drive decisions.
    • Engage in tactical planning and operational implementation of data analytics’ activities.
    • Engage with the IM Project Management team on a weekly and/or ad hoc basis whereby SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) dashboard development related projects’ status updates are discussed, and projects are prioritised.
    • Implement new tools/capabilities in the analytics industry as per the Anglo American policy.
    • Ensure compliance with Data Privacy and Protection Guidelines.
    • Manage communication and reporting according to the requirements of internal stakeholders.
    • Track proper segregation of duties relating to build, design and testing of dashboards.
    • Strong organisation and planning skills.
    • Schedule, manage and facilitate the bi-weekly check-in meetings with the Data Analysis and Business Intelligence function.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field of study.
    • Post graduate degree (preferable).
    • 5 – 7 years management experience.
    • Shared services environment experience (preferable).

    Technical Knowledge:

    • 8 – 10 years of relevant experience in Data Analysis and Business Intelligence is a requirement
    • Experience with Power BI, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) as well as Alteryx 
    • Strong Data and analytical skills
    • Proficiency in spreadsheet applications and advanced use of statistical applications

    Principal- Sustainable Development Data Management & Reporting

    Key Responsibilities

    • To define and standardise data entry, data flow and governance business processes across all Anglo American’s operations.
    • To verify compliance to these processes throughout the Group
    • Identify data management best practice internally and externally.
    • Responsible for compliance of SD data to Group Data policies, including data privacy,
    • Conduct first line assurance of data quality and processes at regular intervals.
    • Develop, maintain and produce scheduled Group reports and scorecards, and ensure Group dashboards are complete and fit for purpose.

    Qualifications:
    What we’re looking for:

    • Ideally a postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

    Job Description:

    As a Work Management Planner, you will be responsible for the entire spectrum and detail of planning and will include the following:

    • Creating or completing the required production and production services planning templates.

    General Miner

    Job Description:

    The General Miner has a legal accountability for construction blasting in terms of the MHSA and will be required to contribute and assist the mining team with the execution of all tasks relating to the role. The role for a General Miner is varied in the mining structure from moving men, material and ore to construction within the mining domain.

    The role will supervise a crew in fulfilling its specific activities, with a timeframe of 6-12 months.

    Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

    Effective logistics role during a shift. Ensure that safety is maintained

    • Ensure that the working areas are safe through inspections.
    • Ensure that safety and mining standards are adhered to.
    • Ensure that up to date operating standards and procedures are communicated, applied and understood by the team.

    Job Description:

    The Section Evaluator is responsible for underground sampling, collation, reporting and interpretation of sampling information and stope width measurement. The valuator must present the sampling and stope width information to management on a regular basis as well as prepare the information for month end measurement.     As a Professional Nurse Occupational Health your responsibilities will include:

    Section Geologist

    Job Description:

    The Section Geologist is responsible for providing a specialist Geological service to the mine with regards to a value driven exploitation of ore reserves and allowing responsible resource management. This will include, but is not limited to identifying potential and problematic ore reserves, implementing necessary diamond drilling and sampling programmes, processing information on plans, sections and reports to enable efficient and timeous MRM service to the Mining department.

    Qualifications:

    Data Governance Specialist

    Job Description:

    The Purpose of the role is to support the delivery of the VOXEL (Vision of Operational Excellence) Data Programme through the embedding of a Group Data Policy across the organisation. This will ensure trust and confidence in its data by managing and maintaining key data assets to agreed standards.

    Mine Care Technician

    Job Description:

    As a Mine Care Technician, your responsibilities will include:

    • Real time monitoring of equipment alarm status on the Minecare system.
    • Creation of notifications on the EMMS (SAP) based on alarms.
    • Monitor alarm connectivity system health.
    • Report system failures & requirement to restore alarm signal health.
    • Observe if operators are taking action to self-correct when receiving in cabin alarms.
    • Monitor alarm counts.
    • Intervene when alarm counts exceed pre-set counts in a time frame.
    • Call up operators & remind them to take corrective action
    • Applies equipment monitoring technologies and techniques to determine timely process interventions for reminding Operators and Foremen of responses required.
    • Deliver inputs into the O4R program.
    • Events and activities are recorded and reported to the relevant key stake holders.
    • A printout report regarding alarms and events are forwarded to relevant personnel immediately after shift.

    This role is in the Engineering HME department on a band 7 level and reporting to the RRT Supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    Principal Reliability Engineer

    Job Description:

    We are seeking a Principal Reliability Engineer to improve the overall reliability culture across the Southern African operations. This role will be to provide discipline leadership and expertise in reliability engineering fundamentals through the development and deployment of appropriate engineering systems. The Principal Reliability Engineer will enable a reliability focused culture across operations, by optimising the performance and reliability of physical assets (mobile and fixed plant) through growing the health of discipline, application of reliability processes (including defect elimination, total fluids management, structural integrity, condition monitoring and asset tactics development) and supporting the ongoing capability building in all of the operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Act as a thought-leader, technical expert and first point of reference for leading practices in reliability engineering.  
    • Provide subject matter exertise to strategies and tactics to improve reliability.
    • Monitor and review operational performance and reliability across the (Platinum/De Beers/Copper) operations.
    • Build operational competence in reliability engineering fundamentals by:
    • Providing high level advice, support and coaching
    • Developing and making available best practice processes, templates, guidelines, procedures, etc.
    • Development and delivery of site training
    • Supporting the business to proactively use data (e.g. asset health, reliability statistics, outcomes of PM/ PDM processes) to drive continual improvement plans and a reliability centred culture
    • Support operations to investigate and close any gaps in reliability based culture or processes.
    • Support gap analysis and identification/ validation of opportunities and development of plans to close gaps.
    • Support the sites through defect elimination investigations of highly complex critical /persistent equipment issues as well as risk studies & significant projects
    • Evaluate and advise on the reliability based skills status, skills development and resourcing at sites
    • Provide technical evaluation & due diligence – projects, M&S, Investment Proposals etc. Support reliability based value identification and knowledge sharing across (Platinum/De Beers/Copper)

    Qualifications:

    • A degree (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity
    • Ideally a Masters degree in an Engineering
    • Registered Professional Engineer
    • A demonstrated thought leader and considered a global expert in the understanding and application of Reliability Engineering Principles in the mining and resource industry.
    • Strong track record of implementing a globally designed strategic approach towards the application of technical expertise in Reliability Engineering Principles in a complex, matrix structured global resources organisation.
    • Track record of success in liaising and dealing at senior levels with stakeholders JV partners, suppliers, regulatory bodies, research institutions and industry associations and using own professional, technical expertise to constructively influence decisions and outcomes.
    • Has held senior technical roles in a complex, matrix structured global resources company.
    • Advanced understanding of the full mining/ resource extraction value chain and its key drivers – from the ore body through the extraction, processing, infrastructure and mining.
    • Good understanding of greater national and global market dynamics impacting the mining industry.
    • Solid understanding of key technical concepts relating to the relevant sub-discipline. 
    • Significant experience in using and interpreting complex data in conjunction with fundamental engineering and scientific theory and analyses to make reliability engineering decisions and set asset management strategy for key equipment
    • Provides consistent outstanding behaviour in relation to safety practices with a deep understanding of the importance of safety

    • Develop, implement, and monitor engineering maintenance, risk and operational tactics and plans to deliver the business objectives and develops set and manage the engineering and maintenance budgets.

    • Accountable and ensures the implementation of key strategic initiatives such as the operating model, asset management and SIB deployment, including implementation/development and or management of CMMS, setting out the service strategy for equipment.
    • Asset integrity and critical spares inclusive of application for SIB capital to de-risk operation. Develop an adequate set of measures to monitor plant and equipment performance.
    • Manages implements and contributes to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives and projects for engineering processes.

    This role is in the Engineering department on a Band 6 level, reporting to the Manager Engineering Snr.

    Qualifications:
    You will be required to have: 

    • Relevant Tertiary qualification
    • GCC Mines and Works

    Experienced Required

    • Minimum 5 years experience post GCC with two years at management level is essential
    • Experience in underground mining is essential
    • Trackless mining experience is advantageous

    Qualifications:

    Experience

    • Minimum 8 - 10 years’ experience in structural design and analysis.
    • Must be experienced in finite element analysis techniques and fatigue and failure analysis
    • Experience in experimental measurement techniques, strain and accelerometer measurements and interpretation thereof
    • Experience in the functionality of mining machinery, equipment and infrastructure

    Job Description:

    You will effectively provide technical support in the execution of the Group Occupational Hygiene strategy and will be responsible for the below:

    • Certificate in Mine Environmental Control [MEC].
    • Certified Occupational Hygienist or Member of the Mine Ventilation Society of South Africa - advantageous.

    Experience:

    • At least 7 years post qualification experience in in senior position - Occupational Hygienist/Vent Engineer.
    • At least 5 years of which were in a mining environment – underground ventilation design, underground emergency preparedness and response.

    Engineering Dispatcher

    Job Description:

    As an Engineering Dispatcher, your responsibilities will include:

    • Control, monitor and coordinate engineering processes and progress to ensure set production targets
    • Effective communication between all relevant role players is ensured to optimize MTTR of equipment.
    • Ensure accurate down booking of engineering downs on the Modular system.
    • Manage the shift handover process to reduce inefficiencies associated with this process.

    Qualifications:

    • Diploma in Engineering or related NQF 6
    • Fitness for work as per Mine Health and Safety Standards.
