Operational Evaluator at Anglo American

Job Description:

The Section Evaluator is responsible for underground sampling, collation, reporting and interpretation of sampling information and stope width measurement. The valuator must present the sampling and stope width information to management on a regular basis as well as prepare the information for month end measurement. The valuator must advise management on all aspects of the grade management on the shaft

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

• Effective collection, collation, interpretation and reporting of sampling data
• Effective collection, collation, interpretation and reporting of stope width and best cut for the shaft
• Adherence to safe working practices

1.  Gathering Stope Width and Best Cut information and recording information pertaining to each stope face
2. Quality control and quality assurance

• Effective grade management of the shaft
• Communicating grade, best cut, sampling, and stope width Information

1. Effective management of sampling and stope width teams and management of personnel

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 with maths and science
• Chamber of Mines certificate (Advanced Valuation)

Advantageous

• Advanced Geology
• Advance Mineral Resource Management Evaluation
• Advance Mineral Resource Management Survey

Experience: 

• 4 years operational experience on a shaft

Knowledge and skills

• Ability to think outside of the box
• Self-starter with an aptitude for identifying and solve issues
• Makes decisions using both a sense of what is correct and logical
• Ability to work with other disciplines/departments
• Sets high personal performance standards
