    SNR Engineer Structural and Mechanical

    Job Description:

    As a Senior Engineer Structural and Mechanical, you will be required to provide technical expertise in various aspects of asset management.

    You will also be responsible for the following:

    • Establish business plans and business strategies
    • Manage and lead projects
    • Ensure that all projects are technically correct from mechanical and structural engineering perspective
    • Ensure that new technology is evaluated and implemented as appropriate
    • Eliminate repeated mechanical and structural failures through proper failure analysis
    • Ensure technical excellence at the operations within the mechanical and structural engineering discipline in order to prevent harm to persons, damage to machinery and equipment
    • Ensure all projects are technically correct regarding mechanical and structural design, operability, optimal functionality and maintainability
    • Evaluate new technology and facilitate with te implementation as appropriate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic intent
    • Act as a role model and reinforce a workplace culture where safety and health for the site
    • is paramount.
    • Drive delivery the sustainability activities as relevant to discipline and set out in the Life of Asset Plan to improve sustainability performance over time

    This role is in the Engineering Department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Senior Asset Manager

    Qualifications:

    • MEng. Structural or Mechanical Engineering
    • Registered Pr. Eng (Preferable)
    • Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)

    Experience

    • Minimum 8 - 10 years’ experience in structural design and analysis.
    • Must be experienced in finite element analysis techniques and fatigue and failure analysis
    • Experience in experimental measurement techniques, strain and accelerometer measurements and interpretation thereof
    • Experience in the functionality of mining machinery, equipment and infrastructure
    • Must be familiar with the roles various stakeholders hold and the interaction and dynamics associated with each.
    • Must have knowledge of mining production equipment and processes, shafts, winders, compressors, fans, TMM, HME, mills, crushers, boilers, pressure vessels, gearboxes, conveyors, and other associated mining and process machinery and equipment.
