    Section Engineer

    IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane.

    • This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to   develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

    Suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

    • Electrical/ mechanical engineering Degree 
    • Computer literacy, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint 

    Suitable candidate must have the following work experience:

    • Minimum 5 years or more experience in a mining environment as a GCC Mining Engineer 

    Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    • Engineering is required to hold the legal responsibility as per the 2.13.1 legal appointment for the whole mining operation. This includes shaft sinking, underground mining, open pit, tailings facilities, electrical reticulations and projects (surface infrastructure).
    • Support the project manager or other management roles in the construction process throughout the project.
    • Work with subject matter experts to create, review and process drawings and other submittals that are required to document the construction process.
    • Establish, monitor, communicate and maintain project schedules utilizing contemporary scheduling software.
    • Proactively identify issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions.
    • Develop an understanding of how to maintain and require compliance with all contract terms and legal requirement that govern the project to prevent rework and delays.
    • Participate in managing activities that are related to project closeout to ensure timely completion.
    • Assist with the evaluation of projects for constructability and value-engineer cost savings.
    • Develop and implement maintenance systems.
    • Implantation and compliance to all legal and other legal requirement as per MHSA and best international mining practices.
    • Project management and CAPEX.
    • Maintain and improve on equipment availability and efficiencies.
    • Prevent failure of equipment and root course analysis
    • Liaise with suppliers
    • Shutdown management
    • Budgeting

    Artisan, Electrician

    Suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

    • Trade certificate 
    • Qualified electrician 
    • Safety and Risk Assessment certificates 
    • Electrical skills
    • Low-voltage knowledge and experience 
    • Interpret designs, instructions
    • Experience with pumps 
    • Identify wires accurately 
    • Perform electrical tests, read results and diagnose and repair electrical problems

    Suitable candidate must have the following work experience:

    • 2+ years' relevant experience as an electrician working across a range of operational environments
    • Experience in the mining environment highly advantageous

    Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    Deliver work according to Standard Operating Procedures

    • Receive work briefs and take direction from Line Manager
    • Ensure unfinished jobs from previous days are completed
    • Understand and apply blueprints and technical diagrams
    • If required, design a low voltage electrical project
    • Inspect electrical components including transformers and circuit breakers
    • Use testing devices to identify and report electrical problems
    • Use hand and power tools
    • Adhere to business, national and local building regulations
    • Install circuit boards, outlets and other electrical equipment
    • Troubleshoot electrical problems and make repairs accordingly
    • Undertake any urgent repairs as directed
    • Report any required stock/spares/parts to Line Manager and assist in the collection of materials
    • Maintain a continuous Quality Assurance checking process, ensuring that work being done is satisfactory and completed to quality and standards
    • Make available finished jobs for inspection and approval by Line Manager
    • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment at all times
    • Monitor and control business processes according to quality standards; policy; and compliance and governance requirements in area of accountability
