Data Integration Specialist at BankservAfrica

You will engage with the following stakeholders:

• Head of Data
• Analytics services
• Technical production teams
• Information Technology Application Development Teams
• DBAs
• External regulators such as SARB and PASA

Your key responsibilities include:

ETL and data design

• Implementation of advanced design strategies and optimization techniques, using ETL tools.
• Design and documentation of data extractions and transformations.
• Develop and communicate best practices and coding standards ensuring adherence to data warehouse principles.
• Provide data integration technical expertise to analyze capabilities and provide effective knowledge transfer of BI Program application and data integrations with the Business Intelligence team.
• Work closely with business subject matter experts to ensure effective incorporation of business requirements in data integration processes.
• Contribute to the ETL components of data mart builds in the BI environment.
• Work closely with the BI team to define and construct the data and data mart objects to support reporting, system and end user functions in the BI solution.

ETL and database development

• SQL development and development of complex and efficient queries and stored procedures.
• Basic database administration within the Data Warehousing environment.
• Tuning of the ETL Mappings or jobs, deploying, administering and scheduling ETL jobs.
• Performance tuning of database tables through the use of indexes, statistics collection, partitioning, etc
• Suggest data integration performance benchmarks and develop methods for the automation of data integration quality measurement.

Data Provisioning

• Responsible for the provisioning of tokenised data to regulators such as the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and the Payments Authority of South Africa (PASA) as and when required.
• Responsible for the creation of ad-hoc data extracts for internal and external stakeholders as and when required.

Troubleshooting and error/failure management

• Implementation and management of ETL error handling, error propagation and email alerting and notification.
• Troubleshooting and optimizing ETL code; interpret ETL logs, perform data validation, event handlers.
• ETL development for data movement, data quality, data cleansing and other ETL-related activities.
• Troubleshooting ETL processes failures and technical support for all ETL related issues
   

Qualifications / Knowledge

• Appropriate qualification/training in computer science, software development, informatics or similar.
• Practical experience in ETL, data management and transformation.
• Strong SQL skills.

Experience

• Experience in data modelling, management and ETL.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in related field.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in Oracle RDBMS.
• Experience in Database Performance assessment.
• Experience in performance tuning in Oracle.
• Experience in working with large Oracle tables / datasets.
