    Data Scientist

The Data Scientist at GVI sits within our marketing department and ensures that our marketing team makes smart decisions based on data, not assumptions, and that our assumptions are properly tested. You will be responsible for gathering and analyzing data, making recommendations, and ensuring appropriate adjustments are made to improve our marketing.

To take on this role, we are seeking a curious, analytical and commercial individual. You will take on overall responsibility for the growth of our online customer acquisition activities, including analysis, strategy, testing and implementation. The ability to extract meaning and suggest action items from data, not just report metrics, is critical to success in this role.

Whilst you will be responsible for the analysis of all paid search and display campaigns, and the oversight of paid media implementation and optimisation, you will also be responsible for providing analysis across all digital channels including but not limited to organic, social and referral.

This role fits into a broad marketing team, so you will have the assistance of a creative team specialising in content management, SEO, product development and digital design.

Please note that an analytical approach and an initiative to seek out new commercial opportunities are more important than 5-10 years of experience in this space.

    Specific responsibilities and competencies

    • Strategy development, implementation, performance analysis and growth across all digital channels, with a large emphasis on paid media.
    • Analysis and the derivation of meaningful and clear, actionable recommendations from data captured that will be used to inform strategic decisions by stakeholders from across the company.
    • Development of a reporting system and rhythm capable of gathering and analysing performance across all online channels in a timely manner.
    • Production of daily, weekly and monthly reports as required by each brand.
    • Maintenance of the systems necessary (dashboards and reports) that allow for efficient insights across the marketing team functions (paid media, SEO, social media, site conversion etc).
    • Monitoring and maintenance of data quality within the marketing database across Salesforce, Hubspot, MailChimp and other.
    • Analysis of site conversion performance and recommendations for improvement.
    • Documentation of all research and findings. You will build the company’s institutional knowledge and unlock new opportunities for growth and ways to operate more effectively.
    • Providing management and leadership to the growing analytical team.

    Requirements

    • BSc in a scientific, mathematic or engineering discipline.
    • Exceptional analytical skills (including mastery of Microsoft Excel), experience with reporting, data analysis and a data-driven approach.
    • Technically capable, with experience across marketing systems such as Google Analytics, Hubspot, Adwords and Salesforce.
    • A natural initiative and curiosity to seek out and identify new commercial opportunities through the analysis of data, in the name of improvement.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent presentation skills. You’re comfortable using data to bring up new opportunities.
