Minimum Requirements    

• BEng Engineering (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum or)
• B Degree (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum)
• 3-5 years of practical or commercial analytics experience with coding in mining or related environments (Essential/Minimum)
• Technical expertise in machine learning languages, packages, and techniques
• Proven track record of leading business integration projects in data science and machine learning
• Strong skills in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and prescriptive analytics
• Experience in creating, organizing, and analyzing data using analytical tools and techniques
• Effective communication skills with the ability to present findings to stakeholders
• Competency in both structured and unstructured data
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Psychometric Assessment  (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Lead the development and application of data science models at the Integrated Operations Centre to provide insights for strategic and tactical decision-making.
• Conduct statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modeling, and prescriptive analytics to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in the business value chain.
• Design quantitative advanced analytics models to answer business questions and discover opportunities for improvement and optimization.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure optimal decision-making and influence business outcomes through effective data utilization.
• Communicate and present insights and recommendations to management and business units to drive data-driven decisions.
• Manage and protect intellectual property while contributing to professional networks and participating in industry forums to stay informed on advancements in data science and innovation.
• Monitor value chain throughput, identify process bottlenecks, and develop actionable business insights using a broad set of analytical tools and techniques.
• Ensure compliance with governance, policies, and safety standards while promoting a safe and healthy work environment throughout the organization.
• Train and mentor junior data scientists and collaborate with cross-functional teams for continuous improvement and innovation in data science projects.
