Database Architect at S&P Global Market Intelligence

Position Summary

The Technology, Media, and Telecommunications business line is looking for a Data Architect to join our growing team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. The Data Engineer will support our software developers, database architects and data analysts on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company’s data architecture pipeline to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

You should be able to demonstrate that you have an outstanding knowledge and hands-on experience in the below areas:

• Complete SDLC: architecture, design, development and support of data solutions
• Play a key role in the development team to build high-quality, high-performance, scalable code
• Engineer components, and common services based on standard corporate development models, languages and tools
• Produce technical design documents and conduct technical walkthroughs
• Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Be part of a culture to continuously improve the technical design and code base
• Document and demonstrate solutions using technical design docs, diagrams and stubbed code

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience on SQL server
• Strong Database development skills – SQL Server
• Strong knowledge of Database architecture, Data Modeling and Data warehouse.
• Knowledge on object-oriented design, and design patterns.
• Familiar with various design and architectural patterns
• Strong development experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience in Spark, Scala, SOLR and Python.
• Strong knowledge around ETL Tools – SSIS
• Moderate experience on oracle
• Preferred experience with cloud hosted databases
