    Defended Actions Specialist

    Purpose

    • The Defended Actions Specialist will be required to constantly action these accounts to ensure that all trial and other litigation timelines are adhered to and liaise with the Bank's panel of attorneys to foster and maintain a strong business relationship for the benefit of the Bank. The incumbent will constantly monitor these accounts to ensure that our panel of attorneys provide quality service, organise and facilitate for timeous consultation with trial witnesses and relevant preparation for trials. The ability to actively pursue settlement negotiations with the relevant parties and to obtain settlements favourable to the Bank, thereby saving both time and legal costs, is a key feature of the role. The incumbent will have a certain level of discretion which will empower him/her to make timeous decisions on which matters to settle and on what terms. Careful scrutiny of all attorney fees is required from the incumbent to ensure that costs are kept to a minimum.

    Experience and Qualifications

    • Minimum Qualification - Bachelor of Law (LLB)
    • Preferred Qualification - Bachelor of Law (LLB), Admitted Attorney
    • Experience - One to Threee years in a Collections environment

    Additional Requirements

    • In accordance with National Credit Act (NCA) candidates applying for this role will require a credit record check.
    • An LLB is a requirement, the candidate has to be an admitted  attorney.
    • Experience in litigation, defended matters on VAF matters are mandatory.
