Basic qualification (Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council [SANC] as a Professional Nurse. A Health Service Management or Nursing Administration qualification with duration of at least 01 year, accredited with SANC. Current registration with the SANC.
A minimum of 09 years appropriate/recognizable Nursing experience after registration SANC in General Nursing. Must have worked as Assistant Manager Nursing in Management capacity in the public health field at least four (04) years of the period referred above.
Other Skills/Requirements: Administrative and advanced Computer literacy to write reports plus District Health Management to be able to develop the Regional Health and Project Management, Knowledge of the application of the relevant statutes and policies governing the public service and health care sciences.
Knowledge of the Performance Management and Development System. Knowledge and application of the Constitution; National Health Act; Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, Public Finance Management Act and Treasury Regulations. Understanding the application of the Batho-Pele principles, Patients’ rights charter and quality assurance system. Well-developed communication, presentation, negotiation and research skills. Strategic, operational and people management skills. Ability to interact with diverse stakeholders and health users and givers. Facilitation and co-ordination skills. Problem solving, planning and organizing skills.
Computer literacy and report writing skills. Applicants to possess Valid driver’s license. NB: A practical test relating to key areas of knowledge and skills may form part of the selection process for this position. Duties :
Provide guidance and leadership towards the realization of strategic goals and objectives of the division. Provide professional, technical and, management support for the provision of quality patient care as part of preparation towards NHI. Promote nursing ethos and professionalism. Develop and monitor the implementation of policies, procedures, norms and standards pertaining to nursing care.
Establish and participate in an inter-professional and multidisciplinary teamwork towards the promotion of efficient and effective service delivery. Establish and implement norms and standards for quality nursing practice and monitor compliance. Improve the skills and competencies of the staff. Problem solving and decision making. Effective management, utilization and supervision of human, material and financial resources.
Oversee facilitation of teaching prospective nursing professionals’ clinical skills, patient care methods, and best collaboration practices. Manage staff performance and development. Utilize information technology to enhance patient outcomes and other management information systems to manage nursing informatics, and for the enhancement of service delivery. Manage nursing and hospital projects.
