JOB DESCRIPTION

• To ensure that the data assets of an organization are supported by the data architecture that aids the organization in achieving its strategic goals. Execution of all the data architecture components of the Santam Group BI Strategic Roadmap.

SKILLS 

• Experience in data analysis and data modelling techniques
• Strong experience in business, data, and application analysis for data migration
• Conceptual understanding of database technologies
• Understanding of business, systems and data analysis
• Experience with investigating data queries and giving feedback
• High-level understanding of various databases
• Exposure to physical database modelling and database design
• Experience in the financial/insurance industry will be an advantage
  • Technical ability in ETL concept, design and development
  • Good SQL skills
  • Quality Assurance / Testing skills
  • Data Modelling skills
  • Effective time management skills
• Required to work within a clearly defined accountability framework
• Knowledge of IT System Development Life Cycles (SDLC) & agile methodologies specifically scrum
• Transforms & Loads information, according to requirements, using the defined metadata

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Relevant Tertiary IT Qualification
• Certificate or Diploma in Data Warehousing from industry recognised Training Institution will be an advantage but not essential
• At least 3-5 years of experience in Data Warehouse Environment
• At least 3-5 years of data analysis & design experience

KNOWLEDGE

• Good Data Warehousing knowledge
• Industry best practice knowledge for data modelling, coding (ETL) and technical warehouse solutions
• Data modelling knowledge (Dimensional) and an understanding of data and process modelling tools
• Sound knowledge of IT Systems Development Life Cycles (SDLC), including Agile methodologies
• Translation of business requirements into the appropriate data structures (data analysis)
• Designing and implementation of  data architectures
• Must be able to design and implement data strategies – acquisition, migration, ETL, Archiving etc…
• Designing of logical data models for operational and informational applications
• Designing and assisting the DBA with the implementation of the physical databases
• Evolve the data models to meet the new and changing business requirements
• Provide input during the design of architectural solutions
