Job Description

• A leading forestry and natural resources company is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic with strong experience in heavy industrial vehicle and machinery maintenance to join their team in Piet Retief. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining diesel and petrol vehicles and machinery used within a demanding production and processing environment, including planned, unscheduled and breakdown maintenance, as well as project work on site. The role will also involve supervising the repair shop and carrying out standby duties as required.

Responsibilities:

• Perform equipment inspections and ensure that daily work activities are executed effectively.
• Supervise the repair shop.
• Ensure effective performance of the workshop team and subordinates.
• Carry out planned, unscheduled and breakdown maintenance on diesel and petrol vehicles and machinery.
• Carry out project work on site.
• Comply with production and safety procedures.
• Comply with Quality Management System requirements, company policies and OHSA.
• Carry out standby duties as required.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 with Core Mathematics.
• N3 Mechanics.
• Accredited Trade Test qualification in Diesel Mechanics.
• Minimum 5 years' motor mechanic maintenance experience within a heavy industry factory.
• Unendorsed Code EC driver's licence.
• Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft 365.
• Ability to communicate competently in English.
• Clear criminal record.
• Proven ability to supervise a repair shop and workshop team.
• Stable employment history is essential; job hopping will be viewed as a deal breaker.
