Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical qualification (Essential/Minimum)
• N2 Relevant Trade Subjects (Essential/Minimum)
• Certified Trade Qualification as a Diesel Mechanic (MQA/QCTO) (Essential/Minimum)
• 2-3 years relevant experience in fitting, servicing, maintenance, and overhauling of passenger and heavy vehicles, as well as primary and secondary equipment (Essential/Minimum)
• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)
• Competence in Core MQA Modules Assessments (Essential/Minimum)
• Competence in On the Job MQA Modules Assessments (Essential/Minimum)
• Pub Driv Lic: Code B (Recommended/Desirable) 
• Pub Driv Lic: Code C (Recommended/Desirable) 
• Pub Driv Lic: Code EC (Recommended/Desirable) 
• Pub Driv Lic: Code EC1 (Recommended/Desirable) 
• Ability to perform inspections and maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and auto electrical systems according to specifications and schedules
• Strong adherence to health and safety practices, including hazard identification and risk assessments
• Demonstrated ability to manage license renewals and maintain accurate inventory records (if applicable)
• Effective communication skills and willingness to transfer knowledge and mentor trainees

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Perform maintenance, servicing, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and auto electrical systems on passenger vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, and mining equipment in accordance with applicable specifications and schedules.
• Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, machinery, and equipment to identify defects, ensuring timely reporting and repair to maintain operational efficiency.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime, including diagnosing issues using appropriate tools and techniques and reconditioning components and spares as necessary.
• Manage the timely renewal of licenses and maintain accurate records and registers related to vehicle licenses and inventory, updating as vehicles are added or withdrawn.
• Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental protocols, including completing hazard identification and risk assessments, wearing personal protective equipment at all times, and promoting good housekeeping practices.
• Plan, order, and manage spare parts and materials to prevent production delays and ensure the availability of required resources for maintenance activities.
• Fill in job cards daily and submit reports to the foreman, ensuring effective documentation and communication of completed work and outstanding tasks.
• Transfer knowledge by mentoring and guiding Artisan Aides and trainees to develop their skills and improve team performance and efficiency.
• Take responsibility for the quality of maintenance work and new installations within the functional area, ensuring adherence to planned maintenance schedules and optimal use of people and equipment.
