    Diesel Mechanic

    • A well-established commercial feedlot is seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Diesel Mechanic to be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of agricultural and heavy equipment essential to its farming operations.

    Minimum requirements for the role:

    • Must have a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
    • Must be a qualified Diesel Mechanic with a valid Red Seal Trade Certificate
    • Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience as a Mechanic
    • Proven experience working on tractors, farm implements, trucks, and earth-moving equipment
    • Valid driver’s licence (PDP will be an advantage) and own reliable transport
    • Good communications skills with fluency in Afrikaans and English (Reading, Writing, Speaking)

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Performing scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing on tractors, farm implements, trucks, and earth-moving machinery.
    • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults on diesel-powered equipment.
    • Conducting breakdown repairs and emergency callouts to minimise downtime during critical farming periods.
    • Servicing and maintaining vehicles and transport fleet to ensure roadworthiness and compliance.
    • Inspecting and repairing farm implements such as planters, harvesters, balers, and spray equipment.
    • Overhauling engines, gearboxes, and major components when required.
    • Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance work, parts used, and service history on job cards.
    • Ordering and managing spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are readily available.
    • Working standby duties, overtime, weekends, and public holidays as operationally required.
    • Adhering to all safety protocols, policies, and legal requirements (including the OHS Act) while working under pressure in a fast-paced agricultural environment.
