Grade 12 and a B / BSc degree in dietetics with registration as an independent practitioner with HPCSA as a Dietician. Must have current registration with HPCSA as independent practitioner in dietetics. Candidate must be CPD compliant in accordance with HPCSA rules.
Notch would be dependent on verifiable experience for OSD purposes to the maximum of Grade 1. Minimum of 9 months’ experience in a regional, tertiary or academic hospital setting in Paediatrics which must be verifiable.
Duties :
To implement anthropometric and other measurements in assessment of patients and the introduction of a nutrition risk screening tool to ensure appropriate referral to dietitian.
To provide dietetic advice and plan nutritional care for individual or groups of patients to meet their specific nutritional requirements. To implement nutritional care plans for individual or groups of patients to contribute to the patient’s general health care.
To evaluate the effects of nutrition care intervention on individual or groups of patients’ nutrition status to determine the efficiency of the nutritional care plan and adapt if necessary. To provide evidence-based nutrition education for patients to implement nutrition principles. Monitor patient compliance and give appropriate counselling. To attend scheduled ward rounds and meetings.
To refer patients to appropriate level of care. To communicate with relevant stakeholders regarding patient treatment. To implement Quality Assurance measures in area of work to ensure maintenance of, and where possible improve, standards of patient care. To audit standards and implement corrective measures. To apply Batho Pele principles.
To liaise with all the members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the nutritional needs of inpatients and outpatients are met. To contribute to the delivery of training and advise to other occupational classes.
