Digital Graphic Designer - Midrand at Dis-Chem Pharmacies

Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Digital Graphic Designer to join our Marketing team at our Head Office in Midrand. To ensure the design of all elements required for the operations sector of the business and to ensure all text and illustrations are put together and well-designed, laid out and presented to make them attractive and easy to read, in a form suitable for printing and publishing.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Degree or Diploma for Digital / Multimedia/ Web design
• 3 Years’ experience working as a designer - Experience working in a graphic design environment, Packaging
• Adobe Suite ( Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
• Have excellent design and industry skills and knowledge.

Advantageous:

• Experience in designing retail store signage, Web design & Development
• Digital and wide format print knowledge. Web design & web development knowledge.

Job Specification…

• Meet clients or account managers to discuss the business objectives and requirements of the job.
• Develop design briefs that suit the company’s purpose.
• Present finalised ideas and concepts to management.
• Ensure work is in line with the client brief at all times.
• Manage work load and production from start to finish.
• Accurately estimate the time required to complete the work and providing quotes for business.
• Adhere to project deadlines and inform management in advance if these deadlines won’t be met.
• Demonstrate illustrative skills with rough sketches and working on layouts ready for print.
• Design, illustrate and photograph any element required for such a need.
• Think creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and developing interactive design.
• Use innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time.
• Ensure all items are print ready for the production team.
• Work in a logical order to give relevant and accurate feedback to team members and management regarding projects.
• Maintain accurate records of the progress of all jobs.
• Work as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, stylists, illustrators, other designers, account executives, web developers and marketing specialists to ensure high quality work.
• Ensure team members that are on-board with the different projects are in the loop with regards to the finalization of these different projects.
• Consider recommendations of team member`s suggestions, on improving design dilemmas.

Competencies

Essential:

• Adobe Suite ( Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
• English – Read, write and speak well
• Knowledge of Web design Specs and Grids
• Basic knowledge of Wireframe design
• Great presentation design skills
• Absolute attention to detail
• Able to creatively leverage online and social media channels
• Conceptual/visual ability and originality with the ability to express creative ideas
• Needs to work under pressure and reach tight deadlines

• Driver’s license and/or own reliable transport
• Be able and willing to work under pressure and strict deadlines.
• Ability to work overtime when required. Be able to go to stores to do installations and site inspections.
