Description

• The Technical Producer plays a vital role in shaping and enhancing the storytelling experience across the online news publisher’s digital platforms, including the website, app, and social media channels.
• This position is responsible for editing video, audio, and images to support and elevate news content, ensuring it is visually compelling, contextually accurate, and optimized for each platform.
• Working closely with journalists, editors, and the digital team, the Technical Producer will bring stories to life through multimedia elements that engage audiences and uphold the publisher’s editorial standards. 

Technical

• Produce, shoot, and edit long-form video content. 
• Produce, shoot, and edit short-form video content. 
• Produce video content fit for any digital platform. 
• Produce, record, and edit long-form audio content. 
• Produce, record, and edit short-form audio content. 
• Final mix video content for publishing and broadcasting in -line with industry best standards 
• Final mix audio in-line with industry best standards 
• Produce and edit photos and images for digital platforms. 
• Create captions and subtitles for videos. 
• Produce basic graphics and animations for videos.

Content

• Good knowledge of South African and Global news 
• Ability to fact check. 
• Ability to produce accurate content. 
• Produce audio visual content as per diary, content calendar and instruction from the Digital News Editor 
• Provide ideas and concept for audio visual rich stories. 
• Provide input on how to enhance stories using audio and video.

Website and app Management and Analytics 

• Monitor stories on the website and app to seek opportunities to enhance or leverage content further. 
• Work with the analytics team to find opportunities to produce stories or develop stories further. 
• Utilise the website and app to the best of abilities to achieve maximum results for audio visual content.

Content and Platforms 

• In collaboration with the Digital Current Affairs Producer, produce a minimum of 3 media rich current affairs content per daily. 
• Provide social media native content to the social media team for promotion of current affairs content. 
• Support social media team to create media rich social media content. 
• Work with the Web Producer to deliver media rich content for the website and app. 
• Use the relevant media type to enrich and enhance content as far as possible. 
• Adhere to all legal and editorial policies, requirements, and guidelines. 
• Contribute to daily dairy, weekly and monthly calendar with web and app / digital first stories. 
• Create media rich content to solidify eNCA’s brand identity and credibility driving it as a leader in news.

Audience 

• Develop media rich content for the applicable platform, using industry best practices. 
• Develop content suitable for the target audience on the right platform using the right techniques. 
• Monitor audience behavior and trends to identify potential opportunities and or threats for web and app content. 
• Produce compelling content to improve audience engagement on web and app content.

Requirements

Qualifications 

• National Senior Certificate is Essential
• ​National Diploma in Media Production is Essential
• Bachelors Degree in Media Production and/or Journalism is Recommended

Experience 

• 5 years in Journalism, Media, and/or Digital Newsroom and/or related field is Essential
• Drivers Licence is Recommended
