Director: Postgraduate Studies (P5) at Central University of Technology, Free State

Main purpose of the job

• To coordinate postgraduate studies, and postdoctoral fellowship programmes at Central University of Technology, Free State, through the strategic management of all postgraduate education systems, processes, and the development and review of appropriate postgraduate policies

Main tasks

• Develop and implement strategic plan for postgraduate studies
• Develop policies, procedures and operational plans for postgraduate studies.
• Manage pre-and post-grant awards, administration, monitoring and evaluation of internal and external postgraduate students’ bursaries, grants and scholarships
• Develop and administer programmes concerning the postgraduate studies
• Manage the performance and development of staff in the Directorate.
• Develop, manage and monitor a budget for the Directorate
• Represent the Directorate internally and externally

Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience

• Doctorate in any academic discipline and appointed at least Associate Professor level.
• 5 years’ relevant experience in higher education leadership role, with 3 years in postgraduate management, preferably in a higher education environment; academic teaching and supervision experience with accredited scholarly publications.

Desired Qualification, Knowledge and/or Experience

• Doctorate in any academic discipline appointed at Full Professor level.
• 10 years’ relevant experience in higher education leadership role, with 5 years in postgraduate management, preferably in a higher education environment; Academic teaching and supervision experience with accredited scholarly publications
