Job Purpose
- To coordinate the daily maintenance requirements on operational aircraft to maintain the customer’s flight schedule integrity safely and in accordance with the SAAT procedures and SLAs. This includes coordination of resources for defect control and AOG recovery.
Principal Accountabilities
Co-ordinate and monitor the maintenance requirements for operational aircraft to assure the integrity and punctuality of the Operator’s flight schedule.
- Monitor the maintenance requirements for operational aircraft and ensure that these have no impact on the Operator’s flight schedule.
- Implement aircraft changes when necessary to minimise operational interruptions.
- Authorise and monitor deferred maintenance requirements to ensure that deferred maintenance limits are not exceeded.
- Direct and coordinate unscheduled maintenance events for the rectification of defects and/or deferred action to prevent AOGs and/or delays. i.e. MEL, GT 16, EO, etc.
- Coordinate the daily operations meetings and follow up on the required actions from stake holders to prevent recurrence of interruptions.
- Co-ordinate maintenance functions after normal working hours.
- Co-ordinate all IOD and emergency response incidents after hours as required and notify respective managers of all emergencies.
- Assist with the issuing of interim stamps after hours.
- Ensure that all incidents recorded and actioned after hours are captured correctly and sent for billing asap.
Manage and co-ordinate AOG and incident events to ensure optimum return of aircraft to service.
- Assume control of all AOG and/or incident events and direct maintenance resources for the recovery of the affected aircraft. i.e AOG. i.e spares, tooling, personnel etc.
- Attend to AOG request for maintenance, component and equipment services.
- Prepare reports on AOG and/or incident event for improvement or resolution of challenges experienced.Co-ordinate requests for spares and/or labour capacity assistance from Line Stations.
- Initiate AMOS projects for all adhoc maintenance requirements. Incidents, defects, etc.
- Maintain a record of all hire loan items in conjunction with the inventory management section.
Attend to all communication between MCC Operations and internal / external stakeholders.
- Maintain an effective communication/reporting system to/from all stakeholders.
- Distribute all daily aircraft performance reports to the stakeholders as required.
- Monitor and attend to all incoming communications.
- Ensure that all customer requests and queries are addressed.
- Co-ordinate all constraints and shortcomings to the operators and facilitate for additional ground time where required.
- Update operational information in the Maintenance Information system. (MIS). i.e
- AMOS fleet tracker. Ensure records/documentation are maintained accurately and current.
- Co-ordinate the notifications to respective parties of Air Directives, Alert Service
- Bulletins and Service Bulletins requirements after hours.
- Register/scrutinize documentation and ensure that all dispensations and deviations are legal, safe and notify relevant department of operational effect.
To manage the team’s human resources in line with SAAT’s HR policies and procedures
- Identify the training needs of the team members and recommend developmental interventions in order to maintain competence
- Initiate appropriate Labour Relation action within the team where necessary
- Promote the motivation of team members to ensure high morale and improvement of productivity
- Adhere to all HR policies and procedures
- Maintain regular staff meetings and feedback sessions
Contribute to the determination of the section’s budget in line with SAAT Operations’ objectives
- Contribute to establishing the section’s annual budget
- Adhere to planned expenditure to ensure that it remains within the budget at all times, and variations are minimised.
- Produce reports to track expenditure as required
Enforce compliance to Quality Standards and Regulations by team members in order to minimise SAAT’s exposure to risk.
- Enforce the adherence to all regulatory, safety and compliance requirements within the team.
- Manage delivery of work in line with the relevant regulatory requirements and where required, activate contingency plans in place to reduce risk for the organisation
- Continually seek ways to improve performance, efficiencies and maximize the use of resources.
- Monitor team performance, especially deficiencies, and activate contingency plans in place to prevent a reoccurrence of the same deficiency
- Enforce the adherence to the required standard of health and safety and compliance with policies and procedures, as well as client SLA’s within the team.
- Oversee safety training and awareness campaigns in order to ensure that staff are kept up to date
- Participate in awareness campaigns to safety, health and environmental regulations so as to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
- Ensure all work performed by his team is done in accordance with laid down procedures and regulations.
Create and maintain an executable flight and maintenance schedule by optimising the utilisation of resources i.e. manpower, facilities and equipment
- Oversee the Updating of AMOS with respect to schedule check cancellations, check postponement, flight hours and cycles.
- Rescheduling of aircraft checks in a manner as to disturb crew pairings as financial implications will occur i.e. union agreement fines, crew positioning, accommodation, slot penalties, general delays etc.
- Monitor maintenance limit expiries in the various Pegasus modules i.e. ARS, MCS, AMS, and DMS.
- Ensure new Pegasys development requests from SAAT which requires feasibility analysis, specification, RFP creation, development monitoring, testing implementation as we as maintenance.
- Verify that data tables in Pegasys are correct and revise when required.
- Control movement of aircraft logbooks in and out of the section with a register.
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 (Matrior equivalent
- Relevant Degree, N6, or equivalent. Plus 4 years’ experience as defined below
OR
- Relevant Diploma plus 6 years’ experience as defined below
OR
- Licensed Aircraft trade (Avionics or Mechaniand 8 years’ experience as defined below. Plus AMEL, Shop certification.
- Operations Management (Of which 2 years in a Supervisory Position, 1 year in MCC environment 3 years in an environment with a large headcount and with union involvement) These years of experience may have been gained simultaneously. 4 years (with degree)
