    eCommerce Product Manager: Apps

    The primary function of this role is to deliver market leading digital shopping experiences for TFG customers. The product manager owns the vision, strategy, roadmap and product backlog for the groups shopping Apps. This includes helping define and quantify the business benefits of key enhancements and developments in the digital retail space. Prioritization and holding the delivery teams accountable to these requirements, in the time frames agreed, is the key function. This is expected to be done with customer needs at the forefront of the requirements, and the increase in revenue as the main outcome. This role focuses on the merchandise and service offers for the benefit of the TFG customer.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop ecommerce business requirements and document these enhancements and developments from a strategic business perspective.
    • Drive business requirements and product feature definition for each product portfolio to ensure a seamless end-to-end digital customer experience
    • Define and assign features to specific releases to meet key business objectives and serving customer expectations
    • Sets product prioritisation and ensures appropriate delivery through a cross functional team
    • Active team member in business and IT teams to drive business objectives through product market fit
    • Serves as key integration point with Technology development, business process, architecture and business leadership
    • Provides product vision and direction for digital experiences that drive consumer engagement, reinforces the brand, and ultimately grows and improves the omnichannel experience
    • Establishes and monitors customer satisfaction and other KPIs to define the success of our digital experiences; identifies and lead efforts to analyse results and continuously improve our performance through product improvements
    • Continuously improve product engagement through active customer development and testing
    • Understand changing consumer trends to apply strategies and product roadmaps that deliver added value
    • Generates new product ideas, researching and analyzing for feasibility and business impact
    • Act as an escalation path for any ecommerce business operational issues, as well as any technical priority issues. Ensure communications are clear and frequent.
    • Attend all ecommerce project meetings and reviews/sprints, as required, to ensure delivery on time and within the requirements of the business. 

    Required skills:

    • Graduate degree / three-year diploma or equivalent experience in commerce, engineering or marketing
    • Master’s Degree or additional qualification in marketing, business administration, information technology preferred
    • 6+ years’ experience in product management in an Agile environment
    • Experience in customer facing digital products (e.g. retail Apps) and / or retail merchandising
    • Advanced level knowledge and experience in launching new products, developing product roadmaps & functions, specifications, conducting customer research, and facilitating user testing
    • Strong sense of design; passion for the customer and exceptional user experiences
    • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build strong data-driven arguments, prioritize with business strategy in mind, and evangelize projects to build consensus within TFG (Online Traders, Brand Marketing, Infotech, etc.)
    • Team player with track record of building strong, cross functional working relationships focused on team performance, rather than on individual success
    • Excellent communication skills; decisive, succinct, and collaborative
    • Solid technical background and ability to work closely with engineers
    • Strong leadership ability and a track record of product execution showing impact in driving projects forward within an organization

    Preference will be given, but not limited to candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.
