    EHOD: Technology Strategy & Governance

    Role Purpose

    • The purpose of the Executive Head of Division for Group Technology Strategy & Governance role is to lead the creation of the end-to-end regional Technology Strategy for Sub-Saharan Africa by considering Vodacom’s corporate strategy, industry developments and trends, competitive market positioning, and future technologies.

    Your responsibilities will include

    • Create and facilitate implementation of the 5-year, end-to-end Group Technology Strategy for the Sub-Saharan Africa region, through close collaboration with Vodafone Group Technology and all Sub-Saharan African operating companies. Current Tech 2025 Strategy to be refreshed annually, with appropriate localisation to consider different local market contexts.
    • Create and issue detailed, localised technology guidance supporting the effective execution of the strategy across all Sub-Saharan African local markets.
    • Implement technology strategy governance processes to monitor and ensure effective implementation of the strategy. Interface with the Group Technology Architecture team to ensure effective translation of the Technology Strategy requirements into high-level architectures required to deliver on the Technology Strategy
    • Deliver on all regular reporting requirements for the Sub-Sahara Africa region and Vodafone Group reporting calendars (e.g: Monthly Vodacom Group ExCo reports,  Vodafone Technology Leadership Team meetings).
    • Provide strategic thought leadership to other business units on key initiatives e.g. Acceleration of infrastructure sharing
    • Support the Group CTO office on Technology Strategy led initiatives (e.g: Annual Vodacom Group Board Strategy Review, Vendor governance sessions and internal communications 

    Technology strategy and detailed guidance clearly defined and approved as per relevant DoA. Includes appropriate localization for each market, with annual refresh as required and in alignment with both Vodafone Group Technology Strategy and commercial business requirements of each local market.
    Technology strategy governance process and mechanisms successfully implemented, with deviations from strategy recommendations clearly identified and highlighted.
    Reporting requirements met timeously and with high accuracy

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • Minimum of B.Sc Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree/diploma or similar
    • M.Eng/M.Sc Eng/ MBA will be advantageous but not necessary.
    • +10 years of experience with technical depth across all technology domains 
    • Strong research and analytical capabilities, and commercial savvy. 
    • Excellent strategic thinking and knowledge of emerging technologies.
    • Extremely strong communication & presentation skills.
    • Expert people leadership and interpersonal skills in an uncertain and rapidly changing environment.
