Electrical Engineer – Building Services - CPT at RPO Recruitment

Job Description

• An industry leading consulting engineering firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its Cape Town office. This permanent opportunity is ideal for a motivated engineer with a strong background in building services consulting, delivering electrical designs for commercial, retail, residential, and mixed-use developments.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services projects while working closely with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical building services systems for commercial, residential, retail, and mixed-use developments.
• Prepare electrical designs in accordance with client requirements and relevant SANS standards.
• Coordinate electrical services with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Prepare technical specifications, engineering reports, and design documentation.
• Estimate electrical loads and bulk supply requirements for new developments.
• Liaise with municipal authorities and utility providers regarding electrical connections and infrastructure.
• Prepare tender documentation and evaluate contractor submissions.
• Procure electrical equipment, including lighting, generators, UPS systems, and associated infrastructure.
• Monitor project costs and assist with budgeting and cost control.
• Conduct site inspections and provide construction support throughout project execution.
• Ensure projects are delivered within programme, budget, and quality requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• BSc or BEng in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years' experience in electrical engineering within a consulting or building services environment.
• Proven experience on commercial, retail, residential, and mixed-use development projects.
• Strong understanding of South African electrical standards, including SANS 10142 and related regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Valid driver's license.

Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa will be advantageous but is not essential.
