Electrical Foreman x2 at Sasol

• To ensure effective management of team members, assets and service providers at Electrical Distribution in Power Station. As foreman you will be required to drive a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Secunda Operations

• Secunda Operations (SO) operates the world’s largest coal-to-liquids (CTL) facility and produces synthesis gas (syngas) through coal gasification and natural gas reforming, using Sasol’s unique and proprietary Fischer-Tropsch technology to manufacture synthetic fuel components, pipeline gas and chemical feedstock.

• Compilation of maintenance budget for own area of responsibility. This also includes shutdowns.
• Provide input on renewal projects
• Participate in the development/review of maintenance strategies
• Manage assets life cycles and plans
• Participate in plant design for maintainability and operability including the acceptance after installation

PLANT SUPPORT

• Participate in PDA (Potential Deviations Analysis), RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and risk assessment.
• Compile and conduct task risk assessment on team members
• Ensure adherence to SHERQ legal standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OSHAS 18001) and implement SHERQ processes for own area of responsibility
• Provide reports on budget, strategy, WMS (Works Management System), reliability and team performance
• Provide input to improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) for the plant
• Manage electrical start-up and shutdown tasks
• Provide information and assist with projects with technical or resource support
• Liaison with service and support functions
• Effective interaction with supporting activities
• Identifies and supports inter-dependencies with own and other departments within the value chain
• Ensure that MOC process is followed, and that modified plant/maintenance procedures are implemented by artisans

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Valid driver’s license
• Asset management experience/knowledge will be to your advantage
• Execution and compilation of Quality Control Plans
• Practical experience of project management will be to your advantage
• Experience in SAP and Microsoft
• RFA Fitness - This position requires pre-employment medical examination which includes a physical fitness assessment as part of the normal selection criteria

Qualifications:

• National Senior Certificate with Maths, Science & English (Must)
• Electrical Red Seal Certificate (Must)

Experience:

• Minimum of 7 years plant maintenance and operations experience
• Practical experience in distribution switching
• Knowledge of electrical protection and practical applications
• Practical knowledge of LV, MV and HV switchgear
• Practical knowledge of MV and HV cables (i.e. PILC and XLPE) will be an advantage
• Knowledge of HV, MV and LV transformers including diagnostic tools for such assets
• Knowledge of DC systems including UPS` and maintenance thereof
• SF6 handling machine
• Managing maintenance projects
• Prior experience as Electrical foreman / Acting Foreman (Wish)
